Lifting dahlia tubers over winter is optional. It’ Lifting dahlia tubers over winter is optional. It’s most helpful if your garden stays cold and wet, or if you want more plants and more blooms next season.

What actually keeps dahlias alive all winter? It’ What actually keeps dahlias alive all winter?
It’s not luck.

Every step matters.
What a week it has been at The Dahlia Patch Flower What a week it has been at The Dahlia Patch Flower Farm. The dedication from our little flower farm crew has been nothing short of incredible. A huge shout out to Liz and Brad Lowe for keeping the pace steady and spirits high.
Every flower farm tuber is now out of the ground. The final hundred are waiting for me to decide their fate this weekend.
We’ve ended our days with red wine, cheese, biscuits, and that satisfaction that comes from honest work.
A good week, through and through.

Our second Christmas in July was a private winter Our second Christmas in July was a private winter gathering for the wonderful teachers of Berrima Public School and what a night it was.

The fire glowed, the BBQ sizzled, hot potatoes disappeared fast, and marshmallows were toasted to perfection. Plenty of hot chocolate, plenty of laughter, and such a joy to see the farm filled with people even while the dahlias are still fast asleep.

A simple, heartwarming winter night.
