Tuber Dividing Season is officially underway here

Tuber Dividing Season is officially underway here at the farm.
Winter makes it a tough gig, but today I broke in my new Hunter boots and honestly, I’m thrilled with them. This year I’m focusing on streamlining our systems and making this Winter job as comfortable as possible.

The farm felt beautifully alive last night, even with the dahlias still fast asleep. A crisp evening, clear skies and that perfect kind of cold that makes a fire truely appreciated. We were so fortunate with the weather, especially given the strong gale winds of today.

Hannah kept everyone cosy with her fabulous hot chocolates, whilst Brad worked the BBQ like a champion, turning out hot sausages and jacket potatoes.

Guests wandered in rugged up and smiling, filling the farm again with laughter.

Marshmallows were roasted slowly over the flames, such a simple winter comfort that made the night feel wonderfully festive.

There was something special about seeing people return to the farm in its quiet season. No blooms, no colour, just firelight, laughter and endless chatter.
A truly lovely Christmas in July.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and brought the farm to life in the middle of winter. Our guests left with small Christmas gifts found in hanging stockings.

CJ Love was named for Charles (my grandfather) and

CJ Love was named for Charles (my grandfather) and Carol Johnson (my mother). Two lives whose initials now rest at the heart of this bloom. Creamy petals, a soft blush at the edge and that lovely glow. She lightens with age from a slightly darker pink to a soft creamy pink.

She hasn’t passed her 4yrs yet so I’m hoping that she shows the steadiness, strength and quiet beauty we hope for. So far her stems are long and strong, her head position and petal count look good and she ages well with a great vase life.

She’ll spend the next couple of years being monitored and nurtured before she’s ever offered for sale.

For now, she’s simply here to be admired.

The fire will be blazing for tomorrow’s Christmas

The fire will be blazing for tomorrow’s Christmas in July. The weather should be fine. Hot potatoes, sausage sizzle, roasting marshmallows all with a hot chocolate in hand.

For those with tickets don’t forget your scarfs, beanies and warm coats. Plenty of warm snug throws to keep you warm.

We even have the lovely Hannah from Coffee Culture working the coffee cart to give you the best hot chocolates!

Introducing Dahlia Jean — a pale yellow beauty released in honour of Kimberley and Ash’s baby girl, born sleeping in October 2025.
A bloom to carry her name for a little girl who will never be forgotten.

Dahlia Jean tubers will be available this season.

The Dahlia Patch ‘Darcie Jean’ Dahlia was formally

The Dahlia Patch ‘Darcie Jean’ Dahlia was formally named and released in the 2025-2026 season after 4years of monitoring.
Darcie Jean is a smoky/hazy pink which produces many tubers, boasts a good vase life with very long strong stems, a high petal count, good head attachment and an upwards head position, making it perfect for floral arrangements.
The Darcie Jean Dahlia is named after Darcie Jean Lowe who tragically passed away from a brain haemorrhage at the age of 18 in 2020.
Darcie was a lover of life, adventure, travel, nature, animals, family & friends. Her final adventure was volunteering on an Elephant Conservation Project in Huay, Pakkoot, near Chaing Mai in Northern Thailand. We honour Darcie along with the Lowe family, in naming this beautiful Dahlia after her.
All proceeds raised in tubers in 2026-2027 will go to the Huay Pakkoot Elephant Community Foundation.

Dahlia Patch ‘Antique’ released in 2025/26 season after 5 years being reviewed. She will be available this season.

A beautiful smoky red decorative Dahlia that ages to soft lighter outer petals. Tight centres with very long strong stems, upwards facing blooms, strong head attachment and good vase life. A prolific bloomer all season.
